"Under your leadership, the school has truly become a second home for our children, where they have felt safe, valued and encouraged to reach their fullest potential."

Mission Team

Holy Family's Mission Team is made up of sixteen dedicated Year 6 children, who enjoy living out the Gospel values and set an example to us all of how to live as Christ's disciples here on earth. These children meet weekly with our RE lead, Mrs O'Reilly, where they spend time planning prayer and liturgy for our school. They visit classes weekly, in order to share the Word of God with all children. They are also very involved in our weekly liturgies, as well as larger-scale celebrations with Fr Tony.

The members of our Mission Team attend annual training with other children from our local schools, to ensure that they are keeping their skills sharp! Members of the Mission Team also contribute to our weekly whole school newsletter, usually exploring the scripture they have shared:

Hi, I’m Francesca, the Faith Ambassador for Reception (Mrs Scott’s Class). This week’s Wednesday word is FAITHFULNESS. In this week’s Gospel, Jesus describes the earth-shaking signs of Jesus’ return to us all. He reminds us that to look beyond the worries and bad moments of our life and world, we have to stay faithful, and we know every step we take God is always with us.

Here is the Gospel story taken from the book of Mark.

Jesus said to his disciples, “A time will come when I will return and appear in the clouds with power and glory. Then I will send my angels to gather my people from every part of the world. Heaven and earth will pas away, but my words will never pass away-they will remain forever”.

Everybody wants a faithful friend and we all have a least one, that is Jesus. He promises to be ours. He is encouraging the disciples (and us) to be faithful to him. A faithful person is gift no money can buy. This week try to be that faithful person that Jesus wanted us to be.

Hello, my name is Kian, and I am a Faith Ambassador. My role is to spread the word of the Gospel with the whole school and each term we get assigned a different class. We say FAITH IS FUN! This week’s Wednesday Word is gift! Our Gospel story this week is from the book of Mark 12:38-44. After each Gospel we say a prayer “Lord Jesus we have listened carefully to your words. Please help us to share the good news of this week’s gospel with our families, through our actions and our words. Amen.”

Hollie writes for us:

Our Wednesday Word this week is FOLLOW. It is important that we all make the right choice about who or what we follow in life. Jesus invites each of us to make following him our most important priority.

In the Holy Gospel, Jesus tells Peter and his friends to sail out in deep water and let down their nets. They had already been fishing all night and had caught nothing but they did as Jesus said and caught many fish. Peter and the fisherman left everything and followed Jesus. This is a clear example of Jesus telling us to follow and make the right choice.

Choosing to follow Jesus may not be easy, but making life better for everyone around us helps make the world a better place.

Your mission: How can you follow Jesus?...Be kind and go out of your way to make others feel welcome and wanted.
