Literacy/Spoken Language

At Holy Family, our aim is to promote the highest levels of literacy through spoken language, reading and writing.

Spoken Language

Through our daily literacy lessons in particular and throughout the foundation subjects, we strive to develop the children’s listening and responding skills and their ability to formulate questions.  This is done by a wealth of different learning experiences such as discussion, presentations, performances, role play and debates.  We intend to equip the children, as they progress through the school, to be able to articulate and justify their answers and opinions, participating actively in collaborative conversations using Standard English.
