ICT at Holy Family Catholic School
Holy Family School places a very high level of importance on the teaching and learning of ICT. The Head Teacher, Governors, Teachers, Teaching Assistants and pupils promote this 'whole school' philosophy. We have extensive and heavily used ICT resources, which are regularly upgraded to ensure we have the latest technology for the children and staff to use.
We are in the very fortunate position of having a 'state of the art' ICT suite, which was opened five years ago. It is important that all pupils and staff gain the appropriate ICT skills, knowledge and understanding in order to use the technology to its full potential. ICT is an ever-evolving subject and Holy Family School endeavours to keep ahead of the game, by introducing new software as well as working with commercial partners.
The aim of our work in ICT is to:
-
To provide the pupils with the skills necessary to develop their understanding of the potential of ICT and have confidence and enjoyment in its use.
-
To develop pupils' knowledge and understanding in the use of computers and other technologies, not only in the classroom but in everyday life.
-
To provide opportunities to gain knowledge and understanding about ICT tools. These include the internet, online curriculum, word Processing, spreadsheets, multimedia presentations, databases, control & sensoring devices and other software.
-
To encourage pupils to become resourceful discerning learners and independent users of ICT, by facilitating their access to unlimited resources and information.
-
To develop a 'whole school' approach to ICT ensuring continuity and progression.
Naace and ICT Mark
In October 2003 we were accredited the Naace Mark for Primary Schools. This is a professional association for those concerned with advancing education through the appropriate use of ICT. This was superceded in March 2005 with the new ICT Mark
Ambassador School
Holy Family is an Ambassador School for Espresso and Kartou2che. We are therefore in a position to demonstrate and discuss these products to any interested schools.
