Homework will continue to be set as follows;
|Monday||Spellings, Times Tables, Reading|
|Tuesday||Spellings, Times Tables, Reading|
|Wednesday||Spellings, Timed Tables, Reading, CGP Comprehension and Maths books|
|Thursday||Spellings, Times Tables, Reading|
|Friday||Spellings, Times Tables and Reading|
- In Year 4, homework should take approximately 30 minutes daily to complete (excluding reading). Children should read every night for a minimum of 15 minutes in Year 4. We do expect it to be done. Please support your child and us by insisting that your child does his/her homework every night.
- For English homework, we use CPG Targeted Questions Comprehension Books. Children work with their teachers in class before the homework is sent out, in order to discuss any unfamiliar vocabulary. In addition to this, children are sent spellings to learn weekly for a test each Thursday. We very much encourage children to read nightly, with the expectation that they will have at least five signatures or comments in their reading diaries every week.
- We set homework so that your child can continue their learning at home; to reinforce something they have been taught in school; to complete work they have started in the lesson in readiness for the next lesson; so that you can be aware of what they are learning at school and the progress they are making.
- Do take an interest in what homework is set but please don’t do their homework for them; it doesn’t help them and it doesn’t help us.
If you believe that the work they have been set is too easy or too difficult for them, you have the right to ask to discuss this with their teacher.
