Music is very important to every aspect of school life at Holy Family. As you walk through the door into reception you will hear music playing. As you wander the corridors music can be heard coming from classrooms, libraries – almost anywhere!
A high percentage of children get involved in the many extra-curricular music activities available at the school. There is instrumental tuition on recorder at every level, flute, clarinet and violin. We have a strong choir of over 100 children from Years 3 to 6 who take part in a wide range of performances both in school and in the wider community. These have recently included Christmas concerts and entertainment, making a CD of our favourite songs and putting on musical productions.
We often have visiting musicians come to broaden the children’s knowledge of all things musical, and trips are arranged to shows, concerts and other venues.
All of this is as well as teaching National Curriculum Music! Children have class music lessons once a week and are taught by a specialist in the school’s Music Room. This is for all children from Nursery to Year 6.
We are very proud of the musical traditions at Holy Family and feel strongly that the opportunities given to the children will develop many positive qualities for their future. We also have a lot of fun!
